Our Mission
Aspen Education Collective exists to strengthen the educators who strengthen our communities. We design and deliver professional learning experiences that are grounded in research, responsive to context, and built around the people in the room. Whether we're facilitating a keynote, a multi-day retreat, or a school-based PD series, our goal is always the same: to leave every participant more equipped, more inspired, and more connected to their purpose.
Meet the Founder
Melani Buchanan Farmer, PhD
Founder & Lead Facilitator
Dr. Melani Buchanan Farmer is an educator, researcher, and professional development specialist with three decades of experience working in and alongside schools, districts, and educational organizations. Her work sits at the intersection of equity, leadership, and learning — and she brings both scholarly rigor and genuine warmth to every room she enters.
Melani holds a PhD in Transformative Studies, Systems Change and has served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, university instructor, and organizational consultant. She founded Aspen Education Collective to create a space where professional learning could be both deeply meaningful and practically useful — not one or the other.
She is a sought-after keynote speaker and seminar facilitator, known for her ability to connect with diverse audiences and translate complex ideas into actionable strategies. When she's not facilitating, she's traveling, writing, researching, and building partnerships that expand the reach of quality professional learning and community connections.
